The Victoria Royals kicked off the start of the WHL season with back-to-back victories over the Vancouver Giants. The Royals opened the 2012-13 season in Vancouver on Friday night. The Pacific Coliseum had not been kind to the kids from the Island, but Victoria was able to hang on for a 6-4 win. Saturday in Victoria was the home opener for the Royals and they came out strong, dominating the Giants for the first two periods, before eventually winning the game 3-2.
The Victoria Royals have been busy in the WHL trade market the past month. They have made a few minor moves to create roster space, as well as moves that will impact the team this season. New Royals GM Cameron Hope has been busy in preparation for his first season at the helm of the team.
